What is No Yard Sale?
No Yard Sale is a local marketplace that helps people buy, sell, donate, and discover services without the hassle of hosting a traditional yard sale.

With No Yard Sale:
- you choose when to meet;
- buyers contact you directly;
- Listings remain available beyond a single weekend;
- Meet Ups are supported by the Show Up Guarantee;
- Norman's Trust Score encourages reliable participation;
- you can sell from home, a storage unit, or another lawful location.
Do I need an account?
Yes.
Creating an Account allows you to:
- create Listings;
- contact other users;
- schedule Meet Ups;
- use the Wallet;
- participate in the Show Up Guarantee;
- build Norman's Trust Score;
- earn badges.
Browsing some content may be available without signing in.
Is No Yard Sale free?
Creating an Account and using many marketplace features is free.
Some optional services—such as promoted Listings, Business advertising, or future premium features—may require payment.
Current pricing is displayed within the Platform.
Buying
How do I contact a seller?
Open the Listing and use the messaging feature to contact the seller.
Keeping conversations inside No Yard Sale helps maintain a record of your communication and supports marketplace safety.
Can I negotiate prices?
Yes—if the seller has marked the Listing as Negotiable.
If a Listing is marked Firm, please respect the seller's pricing preference.
Always negotiate respectfully.
Can I inspect an item before buying it?
Yes.
Buyers are encouraged to inspect items before completing a purchase.
Attending a Meet Up does not obligate either party to complete a transaction.
What if I decide not to buy the item?
That's okay.
You're free to decline a purchase after inspecting the item.
Please communicate respectfully with the seller.
Selling
How many photos can I upload?
Listings currently support multiple photographs to help buyers better understand the item you're selling.
Clear, accurate photos generally receive more interest.
How long do Listings remain active?
Listings remain active until they expire, are removed, or are marked as completed.
The Platform may notify you before a Listing expires and offer eligible renewal or promotion options.
What are Promoted Listings?
Promoted Listings are optional paid enhancements that may increase the visibility of your Listing throughout the marketplace.
Promotion does not guarantee sales or a specific number of views.
What are Donation Listings?
Donation Listings allow you to give items away instead of selling them.
Donation Listings remain subject to the same honesty and safety standards as Marketplace Listings.
Meet Ups
How do Meet Ups work?
After a buyer and seller agree on a time and place, they schedule a Meet Up through No Yard Sale.
Both users may be required to complete certain confirmation steps before the appointment becomes eligible for the Show Up Guarantee.
What is the Show Up Guarantee?
The Show Up Guarantee encourages reliable attendance at scheduled Meet Ups.
It helps build accountability and rewards users who honor their commitments.
It does not require anyone to complete a purchase.
What is an Appointment Hold Amount?
The Appointment Hold Amount is a temporary Wallet hold used to support participation in eligible Meet Ups and the Show Up Guarantee.
It is not a scheduling fee, purchase price, or insurance.
What if I'm running late?
Use the Extension Request feature as soon as possible.
The other participant may accept or decline the request.
Communicating early usually leads to better outcomes for everyone.
What happens if someone doesn't show up?
If a participant fails to honor a confirmed Meet Up, the Show Up Guarantee may apply.
Each situation is reviewed according to the Show Up Guarantee Policy and the information available through the Platform.
Norman's Tip
A quick message explaining you're running late is always better than leaving someone wondering where you are.
Wallet
How do I fund my Wallet?
You can add funds to your Wallet using supported payment methods available within the Platform.
Available funding methods may vary depending on your location and future Platform updates.
Why do I need Wallet funds?
Certain Platform features, including eligible Meet Ups and the Show Up Guarantee, may require sufficient Wallet funds for an Appointment Hold Amount.
The current Appointment Hold Amount is displayed before you confirm an eligible Meet Up.
What is the difference between my Available Balance and Withdrawable Balance?
Your Wallet may display multiple balance types.
Examples include:
- Available Balance
- Pending Balance
- Appointment Hold Amounts
- Withdrawable Balance
Not every balance is immediately available for withdrawal.
How do withdrawals work?
Eligible users may withdraw available Wallet funds using supported withdrawal methods.
Withdrawals may require identity verification or fraud review before processing.
Why can't I withdraw all of my Wallet funds?
Some Wallet funds may be temporarily unavailable because they are:
- supporting an Appointment Hold Amount;
- pending processing;
- under fraud review;
- subject to another temporary restriction.

Examples include:
- honoring Meet Ups;
- honest Listings;
- positive marketplace participation;
- policy compliance;

What are badges?
Badges recognize positive marketplace achievements.
Examples may include:
- reliable Meet Up participation;
- trusted buying or selling;
- account verification;
- community milestones.
Badges celebrate positive participation but are not guarantees or endorsements.

Some of the best ways include:
- honoring Meet Ups;
- communicating honestly;
- creating accurate Listings;
- treating others respectfully;
- following Community Guidelines;
- keeping your commitments.
Norman Says
Trust isn't earned in a single day.
It's built one honest interaction at a time.
Safety
Where should I meet another user?
Whenever practical, choose a public, well-lit location with other people nearby.
Many communities also provide designated safe-exchange locations.
What if I feel unsafe?
Leave immediately.
Your safety is more important than completing any transaction.
If appropriate, report the incident through the Platform after you are safe.
Contact local emergency services if immediate assistance is needed.
How can I avoid scams?
Some simple steps include:
- inspecting items before paying;
- keeping conversations inside No Yard Sale;
- verifying payment before releasing an item;
- avoiding pressure to act immediately;
- never sharing passwords or verification codes.
If something feels suspicious, trust your instincts.
Services
Can I hire service providers through No Yard Sale?
Yes.
Lawful service providers may advertise through the Services category where supported.
Always review provider information, discuss expectations clearly, and determine whether licenses or insurance apply to the service being performed.
Does No Yard Sale verify service providers?
Unless expressly stated, No Yard Sale does not certify or guarantee the qualifications, licensing, insurance, or quality of service providers.
Users should conduct their own due diligence before hiring services.
Business Accounts
How do businesses advertise?
Businesses advertise through dedicated Business or Marketer Accounts.
Advertisements are reviewed before publication and may appear throughout the Platform as part of rotating advertising campaigns.
Why was my advertisement rejected?
Advertisements may be returned for revision or rejected if they:
- violate Platform policies;
- contain misleading information;
- promote prohibited products or services;
- contain inappropriate content;
- require additional information before approval.
Business advertisers may update and resubmit eligible campaigns.
Will my advertisement always appear?
No.
Approved advertisements participate in a rotating advertising system.
Campaign placement, impressions, and clicks naturally vary over time.
Advertising does not guarantee sales or customer inquiries.

Can I delete my account?

Eligible users may request account deletion through the Platform.
Certain information may be retained where required by law or necessary for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or other legitimate business purposes.

Norman's Final Tip
Every expert seller was once a first-time seller.
Every experienced buyer had a first Meet Up.
If you're ever unsure about something, ask.
We're here to help, and there's no such thing as a bad question when it comes to keeping our marketplace safe, honest, and enjoyable for everyone.
No signs. No tables. No yard sale.
Safe Meetup, Payments, Messages, Support, and Ask Norman
What do the Safe Meetup labels mean?
Verified Safe Exchange Zone means No Yard Sale reviewed an official facility source. Suggested Public Meetup Location means a public-place result that is not officially verified. Custom Meetup Location means a place supplied or selected by a user. None is a guarantee of safety, staffing, hours, police presence, or availability.
Does No Yard Sale continuously track my location?
No. Safe Meetup search uses an approximate location or the place you enter when you search. Arrival verification may use precise location only when you actively invoke it and grant permission.
Does a verified arrival mean the item was purchased?
No. Arrival verification confirms the meetup arrival steps. Cash or wallet payment must still be confirmed before the transaction flow completes.
How does cash confirmation work?
The seller enters the amount received and the buyer independently enters the amount paid. Matching amounts confirm the cash record. A mismatch remains unresolved until corrected or handled through support.
How does wallet payment work?
The seller sends a payment request. The buyer reviews it and pays from available wallet funds. If funds are insufficient, the buyer must fund the wallet first.
Is the Appointment Hold Amount part of the purchase price?
No. It is a behavioral commitment hold, not a purchase payment, escrow, deposit, or sale proceeds.
What happens when I remove a conversation?
It removes or hides your copy. The other participant keeps their copy. User messages become eligible for permanent deletion only after both participants remove the conversation and the retention period and preservation rules allow deletion.
How long are messages retained?
The current configured period is 60 days after the final appointment event, subject to extensions for unresolved payments, disputes, reports, safety investigations, fraud prevention, legal duties, and preservation holds. System events may be kept separately.
How do I contact support?
Signed-in users use the in-app support flow and receive replies in Messages. Guests may use the Contact page and receive replies through No Yard Sale Support email.
What should I avoid sending to support?
Do not send passwords, payment credentials, government IDs, or unnecessary sensitive information. Send only what the team needs to locate and resolve the issue.
Is Ask Norman always available and always correct?
No. It is feature-flagged, may be limited to internal testing or phased availability, and can make mistakes. Official policies and account records control.
What data does Ask Norman use?
It uses your prompt, recent conversation context, relevant Help or policy sources, and—only when authorized—the minimum account data needed for an account-specific answer. Usage and redacted diagnostic records may be stored for safety and quality.
Can an advertiser pay to change safety or verification results?
No. Advertising cannot purchase a safety classification, change appointment verification, or override trust, payment, moderation, or account records.
